Rosh Hashanah 5749/September 1988 Volume 1 # 2
Your response to the first edition of Relatively
Speaking was most gratifying. Many of you sent me such lovely comments and
reactions that I was encouraged to continue the efforts. Many thanks to ALL of
you who sent the small, nominal subscription fee. An extra special thank you to
those who sent more. I do appreciate it. Paper and postage fees, you know, do
mount up.
There were, of course, several
mistakes on the family trees, which will be corrected. There were also many
additions to them. Please use the new address-phone lists which have been
updated as well.
From your comments I realized that
many of you don't know "why the heck" all these strangers names are mentioned in
the newsletter. You know you're not related to them. I am including a
genealogical pedigree for myself, which I hope will show you why all of you are
receiving this newsletter. You will see a common ancestor by looking on the
family trees I prepared for each family.
There were a few "happenings" in
the family, which I shall report in these pages. However, my trip to the East
Coast this summer uncovered the most exciting discoveries. They, too shall be
reported here.
Sam and I want to publicly thank
everyone who hosted us for breakfast, lunch or dinner this summer.. We had a
lovely time meeting everyone and were pleased that we managed to fit so much
into so few hours. Next year's seminar will be in Philadelphia at the end of
June. We hope to meet more of you at that time.
It's the time of year when we send
out our Rosh Hashanah greetings, which you should find enclosed. To each of you
we wish a sweet, peaceful and fulfilling new year.
And last, but not least, Sam and I
are pleased to announce that our daughter Alissa became engaged to be married to
Dr. Kenny Bendik, D. D. S. on July 27. They are planning a December wedding, so
after this newsletter goes to print, I'll be rather busy needle working a
Chuppah (wedding canopy). It would be our dearest pleasure to invite everyone of
you to share our joy and dance for the Hassan and Kallah (bride and groom).
However, the groom has some family and friends to invite as well, and the room
they've chosen for the wedding only holds 200. (Don't worry, I'll start on their
family tree after the wedding.)
