Fall 1989 / Rosh Hashanah 5749                                                                            VOLUME 2 # 2

Placing us into present history: Charleston, S. C., is bracing for hurricane HUGO

So many wonderful discoveries have been made this summer, I hardly know  where to begin relating it all.  Most of it deals with the descendants of the Nusbaum family, but it touches on all of us one way or another.

First I would like to tell you that the wedding of Elana & Scott was simply wonderful.  They were married Sunday, August 20, at the Sephardic Temple. The morning started at 10:30 with a champagne brunch, groom's tish and bedeken and much singing and dancing. Then the processional started with brothers, sisters and parents leading the happy couple to the Chuppah. Elana circled Scott the proscribed seven times and the traditional marriage formula was recited. Then the couple made special vows to each other that left no eye dry in the Sanctuary.
After the ceremony, we went to the ballroom for dancing and entertainment by friends and siblings and last, but not least, lunch.

Again the beauty of the day was complimented by the beautiful invitations, place cards and Ketuba that had been made by Adina, and Joan's special addition to Alissa and Kenny's Chuppah to personalize it for Elana and Scott. We wish you all could have been there, but as soon as the video becomes available, all are invited to view it, with some wedding cake as refreshments.

Fall is upon us, everyone is busy back at work and school following an exciting summer, and we wish you all a year of good health, productivity in all your endeavors, peace and love.

Wanted

I am still planning to write the family history and family recipes are needed as well as vignettes about our ancestors. Please send them as soon as possible.  As I've told some of you, a family scrapbook for the reunion and final placement in the American Jewish Archives in Cincinnati is in the works.  Be sure to send me invitations to weddings, bar mitzvas and any newspaper articles about the family, so I can keep this column going. If you have any old newspaper articles, please send me a Xerox copy. I need your help.  Please keep me posted.
And any articles are welcome for this newsletter.

DEEPEST SYMPATHY

To the family of William Bernard Levinson, Jr. on his passing Sept. 12, in Alexandria, Louisiana. My mother remembers Bill and his sense of humor, which he inherited from his beloved father Will, Sr. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Little Rock, his hometown.
