The name Abraham listed as father for several Budnitzkys, it is not certain if he was the same person or cousins. Esther and Sura were listed as mothers for several persons whose fathers were Abraham. Therefore, some people are listed as siblings or cousins, all descending from #1 on this list. In the new world the name was changed to various forms -- Budson, Budman, Budney, Budd and Budwin, all listed on the trees. On one branch the Budnitzky name somehow became Gurevitch. They like to say it is because they were horse thieves, but it was probably a ploy to avoid the tsar's army. And it has just come to light that two brothers went to study to become coppersmiths with a family named Gurevitch. They took their family name, but when Ben and Harry arrived in the US the names became Gurvitch and Gurewitch, respectively, and then Gurwin.
