    The Rosenstock and Levistein families were from the area on the below pictured map from 1727. Geysa and Tann were approximately 10k apart. During the last half of the 1900s Geisa, lying just on the border of Hesse and Thuringia, was in East Germany and Tann in West Germany. In 1992,  shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall which divided the countries we visited and bought a book celebrating the 1175th year anniversary of the city. The map and photos of Geisa were taken from this book.

 The Rosenstock and Moses families came from the village of Tann by Fulda in the Rhoen. In the mid-1800s the family of Joseph Rosenstock emigrated to the United States, settling in Maryland. Members of this family still lived in the Baltimore area and Frederick City.

    The Moses family descendants also emigrated to the Baltimore area in the early 1900s and some after WW2 to the New York area. They now live in New Jersey, New York, Colorado and California.

  The progenitor of the Rosenstock and Moses families, Yehuda Loeb, had two grandsons, Isaak, who took the last name Moses, and Loeb Salomon, who took the last name Rosenstock, when Jews were forced to take last names in 1817.  Please note that in Europe "Sally" was often a masculine name, usually a nickname for Salomon or Saul.
